Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden. It was originally known as Malmhaug ("Sandpile") and was under the Danish rule.The unification with Sweden took place in 1658. Malmö has been an industrial and transportation centre and it is connected to Copenhagen and Zealand by the Öresund Link, a bridge and tunnel opened in 2000.
