Little Women - Louisa May Alcott

Going through the library at home, a small book with a very short story caught my attention. I thought of reading the book just for fun...
Little did I know that this short story would actually teach me something!

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott was published in four sections in 1868,1869,1871 and 1886 respectively. The first part of the story was called Meg,Jo, Beth and Amy, the second Good Wives, the third Little Men and the last Jo’s Boy

Even though the story is very simple portraying a middle class American family in the 1880's, the mother's advice to her daughters can still be relevant today.

Here are a couple of quotes from the text:

‘Money is a useful thing but genuine happiness can be found even in a plain house.’

‘I want my daughters to be admired, but I want them to be loved and respected too. There is nothing wrong with being poor if you are happy, honest and kind. It is better to be poor and happy than to be rich and have no self respect’.
