Thessaloniki is one of the most historical cities in Greece. It was established in 315 BC at the beginning of the Hellenistic era. The heir of the of the kingdom of Macedonia Cassander and husband of Thessaloniki (half blood sister of Alexander the Great) founded the city and named it after his wife.
