-‘Who chooses the other person in relationships?’
-‘Women.’
-‘Who initiates sexual attraction?’
-‘Women’
-‘Why do men cheat?’
-‘Because their wives do not treat them well’
-‘Does the woman keep the relationship and marriage alive?’
-‘Yes… but you are asking the wrong questions’
-‘Why? I have seen so many married men cheat on their wives
and that is cheap’
-‘Yes, but you never ask how unhappy the man is in the
relationship. You never ask how many women cheat on their husbands?’
- So what does a man do in a relationship/marriage then?
- 'Care, protect and provide for the family’
But does the man care, protect and provide to his wife
emotionally? Does he see his wife as a servant or what?
I thought relationships are all about team work, two imperfect
people, teaming up to create, to make it work and to support each other.
Why does a woman have to take control of all of these
things? Why do women have to put in that much effort and expect the man not to?
It might seem like I was asking all the wrong questions… but
I don’t think I was.
When two people choose each other they should both initiate
sex, care for each other, support each other keep their marriage alive, keep
the spark going.
If we have to redefine relationships it would be lovely to see two
imperfect people working towards the same goal, putting the same amount of
effort, finding ways to keep the spark alive, making everything possible to be
happy together without searching for the easy solutions.
It is difficult being a man in the 21st
century after all these feminist movements, but it may be worth while
trying to redefine what the ‘ideal’ couple/relationship/marriage should be like.
A strong, successful and independent man next to a strong,
successful and independent woman where both parties love, respect, challenge, support
and help each other grow, does not create an imbalanced relationship. Quite the
contrary, it creates a badass relationship that is unbreakable. Both people
teaming up to build an empire which everyone else envies and is jealous of.
