'You are weird', 'You are odd', 'You are a strange girl'.
Don't we all feel that way at times?
So what?
Hanna was one of us. When opening up about how unfair, mean and terrible people's behaviour was towards her, many of them looked down in shame.
But, when she turned to us, she said:
'You are different. You make me feel safe'
That was when we all understood how powerful we were.
The power of being 'odd', 'strange' and 'weird' is more important than being 'normal'.
When the weird ones have the strength to be confident in their own skin, they are extremely powerful. But when they make someone vulnerable feel safe when they are around, is a superpower.
Not everyone will understand your weirdness neither discover the magic that comes with it.
Their inability to look beyond the surface is their weakness.
They will never understand what it feels like to make someone feel safe just by being yourself... and that is a loss.
How beautiful would it be if everyone had the strength to embrace their 'odd-weird' selves...
'Always take being called weird as a compliment, it means you are different, you are you and that is who you are supposed to be.' - Scott Trunzo
