How do you spend you public holidays?

Public holidays like Easter or Christmas, is a chance to celebrate religion. But the most important part of these celebrations are the family gatherings.
Whether you are religious or not, these pubic holidays are always a perfect excuse to enjoy your grandma's cooking, to see your uncles, aunts, cousins, to catch up with them and eat loads and loads of food.

This was the case for my family too.
My late grandma used to gather all of us at her house, cook not only for the family but for the whole neighbourhood. We got to see all our relatives, eat amazing food and have the perfect day.

Once my grandmother passed away however, everything changed.
No more family gatherings, no more time spent with uncles and aunts and cousins, no more warmth to be around. It felt as if the whole family was torned apart.

That was the moment I realized how much my grandmother was contributing in keeping the family together.
The power she had to have all of us around her table all these times.
The power she had to create some of my best childhood memories.
The power she had to hold the whole family together.

And I did not realize that until she passed away.

Those public holidays, whether religious or not, should be spend with family.
What you take for granted right now, might not be there tomorrow.
What you think is boring and useless in the short term, in the long term will be the most precious memories and treasures you own.
Value your family, spend time with them and be grateful.
