World renowned operatic soprano Maria Callas used to say that as a child she used to listen to the birds singing and was trying to imitate the musical patterns they produced.
In fact, many people and musicians are intrigued by those beautiful musical patterns created by birds. Hence the reason they observe and listen to them closely.
However, this was not quite the case with me and the little bird that visited me.
While playing a piano piece, a bird sat outside my window and started singing with me.
While at first the little bird sang in its natural voice patterns I slowly started to realize that it was trying to imitate the rhythmic and melodic patterns the piano melody was producing.
One of the patterns was repeating quite a lot and the little bird was trying to 'catch' it every time it came around.
In my excitement listening to this beautiful duet, I tried to record a part of it. However, every time the bird was perfectly aligning with my melody, my excitement made me make some mistakes.
However, I will still post a very very small excerpt of our little duet.
Realizing that music can actually speak to the birds the same way their birdsong speaks to us was something magical to discover!
Have a listen :)
