Light and Darkness - two coexisting forces, battling for survival.
When we are faced with darkness, we have two options. We either stay in darkness or we seek the light. Many authors, poets, artists and researchers have talked about the importance of darkness and light in our lives.
Below, you will find some inspirational thoughts and quotes (borrowed from Goodreads) about the importance of light and darkness in our life.
"But it is the same with man as with the tree. The more he seeks to rise into the height and light, the more vigorously do his roots struggle earthward, downward, into the dark, the deep - into evil." - Friedrich Nietzsche, Thus Spoke Zarathustra
"Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone's life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance" - Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
"Whatever you are physically...male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy-all those things matter less than what your heart contains. If you have the soul of a warrior, you are a warrior. Al those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside" - Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Angel
"When you light a candle, you also cast a shadow" -Ursula K. Le Guin
"People will do anything, no matter how absurd in order to avoid facing their own souls. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious" - Carl Jung, Psychology and Alchemy
"When you get to the end of all the light you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught how to fly" - Edward Teller
"Shine your light and make a positive impact on the world; there is nothing so honorable as helping improve the lives of others" - Roy T. Bennett
"Everybody has a little bit of the sun and moon in them. Everybody has a little bit of a man, woman and animal in them. Darks and lights in them. Everyone is part of a connected cosmic system. Part earth and sea, wine and fire, with some salt and dust swimming in them. We have a universe within ourselves that mimics the universe outside. None of us are just black or white, or never wrong and always right. No one. No one exists without polarities. Everybody has good and bad forces working with them, against them, and within them. - Part Sun and Moon by Suzy Kassem
