Askitiki -Salvatores Dei by Nikos Kazantzakis

Nikos kazantzakis' "Askitiki- Salvatores Dei" is an exploration of the soul and the mind.

  1. "Discipline is the highest of all virtues".
  2. "But another voice within me, lets call it the sixth power, lets call it heart, resists and shouts: "No! No! Never acknowledge a human's limitations! Break all boundaries! Deny all your eyes see! Die while saying "Death does not exists".
  3. "Love danger. What is the most difficult? That is which I want! Which road should you take? The most rugged uphill. This is the one I follow; follow me too!
  4. "Learn to obey. Only he who obeys a rhythm superior to his own, is free."
  5. "Love responsibility. Say: I, only I have the duty to save the earth. If it is not saved, I am to blame"
  6. "Be restless, unsatisfied, be a misfit. When a habit becomes convenient, smash it! The greatest of all sins is satisfaction."
  7. "What is meant by happiness? To live all unhappiness. What is meant by light? To gaze with undimmed eyes, all darkness"
  8. "And we fight - all plants, animals, humans, ideas- in this momentary passage of individual life, to regulate the chaos within us, to cleanse the abyss, to transmit all darkness within us into light"
  9. "No, God will save us. We will save God, fighting , creating, transforming matter into spirit."
  10. "The star dies, but its light never dies, the same as the cry of freedom."
  11. "If you are a woman, then Love. Choose austerely among all men the father of your children. It is not you who choses, but rather the indestructible, merciless, infinite, masculine God within you."
  12. "A man's psyche is a flame, a bird in flame".
