The Couples' Window

She stood at the corner of the gallery room.
She watched people walk in and out of the exhibition space.
She noticed the patterns they walked in, which artworks people spent more time enjoying and which ones were not so interesting to them.

The room was tall which made is perfect for a middle level floor, where people could look down to the main gallery space from above.

She noticed people climbing up the stairs, reaching the middle floor, looking down at the main exhibition space and once they turned back to leave that tiny space, they all noticed the window by the wall.

A small wooden window, a traditionally designed masterpiece that was restored to fit the newly opened exhibition space. A perfect space to look out at the square, watch the children playing, the people walking by while admiring the buildings and cultural heritage.

Everyone followed the same pattern, entered the exhibition space, climbed up the stairs, looked at the exhibition space from above, turned to leave, noticed the window, approached it and enjoyed its view.

What melted her heart however, were the couples. Couples of any age, when approaching the window, they stood side by side, enjoyed the view while the lady would lean towards her partner and stay silent for a couple of minutes.

She never thought that such an unexpected spot would turn out to be such an intimate and romantic place, without anyone even insisting on it. No signs for picture, or selfies.

It was as if all couples selected that small window to be theirs.
