Louisa May Alcott, writer of Little Women, was born on 29th of November 1832 in
Pennsylvania, USA. She was one of four siblings and at the age of two, due to financial difficulties her
family moved to Boston. She was home schooled and tutored by her father (who was a teacher) as well as family
friends.
Because of her family's financial state, she started working from an early age. She worked as a teacher, seamstress, governess, nurse and writer. She never abandoned her love for writing and her first book was published in 1854 named Flower Fables.
Soon she started writing for the Atlantic Monthly magazine and rose to fame with her novel Little Women that was published in four sections dating from 1868 to 1886.
Alcott continued to write for the rest of her life despite
her health problems.
She fought against slavery and worked hard to obtain equal
rights for women. In fact, she was eager for women to have the right to
vote and was the first woman to
register to vote in Concord Massachusetts. #Atruefeminist
She died in Boston on the 6th of March 1888 at the age of 55.
